1 tn The words “when you come to see my face,” though found in the Hebrew text, are somewhat redundant given the similar expression in the earlier part of the verse. The words are absent from the Syriac Peshitta.
2 tc For the MT בַּעֲבוּר (ba’avur, “for the sake of”) we should probably read בְּעוֹד (bÿ’od, “while”). See the Lucianic Greek recension, the Syriac Peshitta, and the Targum.
3 tn Heb “send quickly and tell David saying.”
4 tn Or “wilderness” (so KJV, NASB, NRSV, TEV).
5 tn That is, “cross over the Jordan River.”
6 tn Heb “swallowed up.”
7 tn Heb “but this day you will not bear good news.”
