1:4 David inquired, “How were things going? 1  Tell me!” He replied, “The people fled from the battle and many of them 2  fell dead. 3  Even Saul and his son Jonathan are dead!”

2:1 Afterward David inquired of the Lord, “Should I go up to one of the cities of Judah?” The Lord told him, “Go up.” David asked, “Where should I go?” The Lord replied, 4  “To Hebron.”

The Gibeonites Demand Revenge

21:1 During David’s reign there was a famine for three consecutive years. So David inquired of the Lord. 5  The Lord said, “It is because of Saul and his bloodstained family, 6  because he murdered the Gibeonites.”
