2 Samuel 1:26

Context

1:26 I grieve over you, my brother Jonathan!

You were very dear to me.

Your love was more special to me than the love of women.

2 Samuel 3:6

Context
Abner Defects to David’s Camp

3:6 As the war continued between the house of Saul and the house of David, Abner was becoming more influential 1  in the house of Saul.

2 Samuel 6:22

Context
6:22 I am willing to shame and humiliate myself even more than this! 2  But with the slave girls whom you mentioned let me be distinguished!”

2 Samuel 18:8

Context
18:8 The battle there was spread out over the whole area, and the forest consumed more soldiers than the sword devoured that day.

1 tn Heb “was strengthening himself.” The statement may have a negative sense here, perhaps suggesting that Abner was overstepping the bounds of political propriety in a self-serving way.

2 tn Heb “and I will shame myself still more than this and I will be lowly in my eyes.”
