25:5 But the Babylonian army chased after the king. They caught up with him in the plains of Jericho, 4  and his entire army deserted him.

2 tn Heb “and I will cut off from Ahab those who urinate against a wall, [including both those who are] restrained and let free [or, ‘abandoned’] in Israel.” On the phrase וְעָצוּר וְעָזוּב (vÿatsur vÿazur, translated here “weak and incapacitated”) see the note at 1 Kgs 14:10.

3 tn Heb “she arose and she destroyed all the royal offspring.” The verb קוּם (qum) “arise,” is here used in an auxiliary sense to indicate that she embarked on a campaign to destroy the royal offspring. See M. Cogan and H. Tadmor, II Kings (AB), 125.
