2 Kings 4:34

Context
4:34 He got up on the bed and spread his body out over 1  the boy; he put his mouth on the boy’s 2  mouth, his eyes over the boy’s eyes, and the palms of his hands against the boy’s palms. He bent down over him, and the boy’s skin 3  grew warm.

2 Kings 13:21

Context
13:21 One day some men 4  were burying a man when they spotted 5  a raiding party. So they threw the dead man 6  into Elisha’s tomb. When the body 7  touched Elisha’s bones, the dead man 8  came to life and stood on his feet.

2 Kings 23:30

Context
23:30 His servants transported his dead body 9  from Megiddo in a chariot and brought it to Jerusalem, where they buried him in his tomb. The people of the land took Josiah’s son Jehoahaz, poured olive oil on his head, 10  and made him king in his father’s place.

1 tn Heb “he went up and lay down over.”

2 tn Heb “his” (also in the next two clauses).

3 tn Or perhaps, “body”; Heb “flesh.”

4 tn Heb “and it so happened [that] they.”

5 tn Heb “and look, they saw.”

6 tn Heb “the man”; the adjective “dead” has been supplied in the translation for clarity.

7 tn Heb “the man.”

8 tn Heb “he”; the referent (the dead man) has been specified in the translation for clarity. Otherwise the reader might think it was Elisha rather than the unnamed dead man who came back to life.

9 tn Heb “him, dead.”

10 tn Or “anointed him.”
