2 Kings 17:13

Context

17:13 The Lord solemnly warned Israel and Judah through all his prophets and all the seers, “Turn back from your evil ways; obey my commandments and rules that are recorded in the law. I ordered your ancestors to keep this law and sent my servants the prophets to remind you of its demands.” 3

2 Kings 23:3

Context
23:3 The king stood by the pillar and renewed 4  the covenant before the Lord, agreeing to follow 5  the Lord and to obey his commandments, laws, and rules with all his heart and being, 6  by carrying out the terms 7  of this covenant recorded on this scroll. All the people agreed to keep the covenant. 8

2 Kings 25:19

Context
25:19 From the city he took a eunuch who was in charge of the soldiers, five 9  of the king’s advisers 10  who were discovered in the city, an official army secretary who drafted citizens 11  for military service, and sixty citizens from the people of the land who were discovered in the city.

1 tn Heb “and [on] every good portion they were throwing each man his stone and they filled it.” The vav + perfect (“and they filled”) here indicates customary action contemporary with the situation described in the preceding main clause (where a customary imperfect is used, “they were throwing”). See the note at 3:4.

2 tn Heb “until he had allowed its stones to remain in Kir Hareseth.”

3 tn Heb “obey my commandments and rules according to all the law which I commanded your fathers and which I sent to you by the hand of my servants the prophets.”

4 tn Heb “cut,” that is, “made, agreed to.”

5 tn Heb “walk after.”

6 tn Or “soul.”

7 tn Heb “words.”

8 tn Heb “stood in the covenant.”

9 tn The parallel passage in Jer 52:25 has “seven.”

10 tn Heb “five seers of the king’s face.”

11 tn Heb “the people of the land.”
