2:3 Some members of the prophetic guild 1  in Bethel came out to Elisha and said, “Do you know that today the Lord is going to take your master from you?” 2  He answered, “Yes, I know. Be quiet.”

2 Kings 2:5

Context
2:5 Some members of the prophetic guild in Jericho approached Elisha and said, “Do you know that today the Lord is going to take your master from you?” He answered, “Yes, I know. Be quiet.”

2 Kings 12:9

Context

12:9 Jehoiada the priest took a chest and drilled a hole in its lid. He placed it on the right side of the altar near the entrance of 3  the Lord’s temple. The priests who guarded the entrance would put into it all the silver brought to the Lord’s temple.

2 Kings 17:29

Context

17:29 But each of these nations made 4  its own gods and put them in the shrines on the high places that the people of Samaria 5  had made. Each nation did this in the cities where they lived.

1 tn Heb “the sons of the prophets.”

2 tn Heb “from your head.” The same expression occurs in v. 5.

3 tn Heb “on the right side of the altar as a man enters.”

4 sn The verb “make” refers to the production of idols. See M. Cogan and H. Tadmor, II Kings (AB), 210-11.

5 tn Heb “Samaritans.” This refers to the Israelites who had been deported from the land.
