9:5 Therefore I thought it necessary to urge these brothers to go to you in advance and to arrange ahead of time the generous contribution 1  you had promised, so this may be ready as a generous gift 2  and not as something you feel forced to do. 3

11:26 I have been on journeys many times, in dangers from rivers, in dangers from robbers, 4  in dangers from my own countrymen, in dangers from Gentiles, in dangers in the city, in dangers in the wilderness, 5  in dangers at sea, in dangers from false brothers,

3 tn Grk “as a covetousness”; that is, a gift given grudgingly or under compulsion.

4 tn Or “bandits.” The word normally refers more to highwaymen (“robbers”) but can also refer to insurrectionists or revolutionaries (“bandits”).
