2 Corinthians 8:1--9:15
-
[2Co 8:9] Oh, Rejoice, Ye Christians, Loudly
Oh, rejoice, ye Christians, loudly,
For your joy hath now begun;
Wondrous things our God hath done.
Tell abroad His goodness proudly,
Who our race hath honored thus
That He deigns to dwell with us.Refrain
Joy, O joy, beyond all gladness,
Christ hath done away with sadness!
Hence, all sorrow and repining,
For the Son of Grace is shining!See, my soul, thy Savior chooses
Weakness here and poverty,
In such love He comes to thee
Nor the hardest couch refuses;
All He suffers for thy good,
To redeem thee by His blood.Refrain
Lord, how shall I thank Thee rightly?
I acknowledge that from Thee
Every blessing flows to me.
Let me not forget it lightly
But to Thee through all things cleave
So shall heart and mind receive:Refrain
Jesus, guard and guide Thy members,
Fill Thy brethren with Thy grace,
Hear their prayers in every place.
Quicken now life’s faintest embers,
Grant all Christians, far and near,
Holy peace, a glad new Year!Refrain

[2Co 8:18] What Thanks And Praise To Thee We Owe
What thanks and praise to Thee we owe,
O Priest and Sacrifice divine,
For Thy dear saint through whom we know
So many a gracious word of Thine;Whom Thou didst choose to tell the tale
Of all Thy manhood’s toils and tears,
And for a moment lift the veil
That hides Thy boyhood’s spotless years.How many a soul with guilt oppressed
Has learned to hear the joyful sound
In that sweet tale of sin confessed
The Father’s love, the lost and found?How many a child of sin and shame
Has refuge found from guilty fears
Through her, who to the Savior came
With costly ointments and with tears!What countless worshippers have sung,
In lowly fane or lofty choir,
The song that loosed the silent tongue
Of him who was the Baptist’s sire!And still the Church through all her days
Uplifts the strains that never cease,
The blessèd virgin’s hymn of praise,
The agèd Simeon’s words of peace.O happy saint! whose sacred page,
So rich in words of truth and love,
Pours on the Church from age to age
This healing unction from above;The witness of the Savior’s life,
The great Apostle’s chosen friend
Through weary years of toil and strife
And still found faithful to the end.So grant us, Lord, like him to live,
Beloved by man, approved by Thee,
Till Thou at last the summons give,
And we, with him, Thy face shall see.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[2Co 9:7] Lord, Thou Lov’st The Cheerful Giver
Lord, Thou lov’st the cheerful giver,
Who with open heart and hand
Blesses freely, as a river
That refreshes all the land.
Grant us then the grace of giving
With a spirit large and free,
That our life and all our living
We may consecrate to Thee.We are Thine, Thy mercy sought us,
Found us in death’s dreadful way,
To the fold in safety brought us,
Nevermore from Thee to stray.
Thine own life Thou freely gavest
As an off’ring on the cross
For each sinner whom Thou savest
From eternal shame and loss.Blest by Thee with gifts and graces,
May we heed Thy church’s call:
Gladly in all times and places
Give to Thee Who givest all.
Thou hast bought us, and no longer
Can we claim to be our own;
Ever free and ever stronger,
We shall serve Thee, Lord, alone.Savior, Thou hast freely given
All the blessings we enjoy.
Earthly store and bread of heaven,
Love and peace without alloy;
Humbly now we bow before Thee,
And our all to Thee resign;
For the kingdom, pow’r and glory,
Are, O Lord, forever Thine.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[2Co 9:15] Father, Our Hearts We Lift
Father, our hearts we lift,
Up to Thy gracious throne,
And bless Thee for the precious gift,
Of Thine incarnate Son;
The gift unspeakable,
We thankfully receive,
And to the world Thy goodness tell,
And to Thy glory live.Jesus the holy Child,
Doth by His birth declare,
That God and men are reconciled,
And one in Him we are;
Salvation through His Name
To all mankind is giv’n,
And loud His infant cries proclaim
A peace ’twixt earth and Heav’n.A peace on earth He brings,
Which never more shall end;
The Lord of hosts, the King of kings,
Declares Himself our Friend;
Assumes our flesh and blood,
That we His Spirit may gain;
The everlasting Son of God,
The mortal Son of Man.His kingdom from above,
He doth to us impart,
And pure benevolence and love,
O’erflow the faithful heart;
Changèd in a moment we
The sweet attraction find,
With open arms of charity
Embracing all mankind.O might they all receive,
The new-born Prince of Peace,
And meekly in His Spirit live,
And in His love increase!
Till He convey us home,
Cry every soul aloud,
“Come, Thou Desire of nations, come,
And take us up to God.”Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[2Co 9:15] Hosanna In The Highest
Hosanna in the highest
To our exalted Savior,
Who left behind for all mankind
These tokens of His favor:
His bleeding love and mercy,
His all redeeming Passion;
Who here displays, and gives the grace
Which brings us our salvation.Louder than gathered waters,
Or bursting peals of thunder,
We lift our voice and speak our joys
And shout our loving wonder.
Shout, all our elder brethren,
While we record the story
Of Him that came and suffered shame,
To carry us to glory.Angels in fixed amazement
Around our altars hover,
With eager gaze adore the grace
Of our eternal Lover:
Himself and all His fullness
Who gives to the believer;
And by this bread whoe’er are fed
Shall live with God for ever.source: Cyberhymnal -
[2Co 9:15] O Jesu, Blessèd Lord, To Thee
O Jesu, blessèd Lord, to Thee
My heartfelt thanks for ever be,
Who hast so lovingly bestowed
On me Thy body and Thy blood.Break forth, my soul, for joy, and say,
What wealth is come to me today!
My Savior dwells within me now;
How blest am I! How good art Thou!source: Cyberhymnal -
[2Co 9:15] Oh, How Great Is Thy Compassion
Oh, how great is Thy compassion,
Faithful Father, God of grace,
That with all our fallen race
And in our deep degradation
Thou wast merciful that we
Might be saved eternally!Thy great love for this hath striven
That we may from sin be free
And forever live with Thee;
Yea, Thy Son Himself hath given
In His grace an earnest call
To His Supper unto all.And for this our soul’s salvation
Voucheth Thy good Spirit, Lord,
In Thy sacraments and Word.
He imparteth consolation,
Granteth us the gift of faith
That we fear nor hell nor death.Lord, Thy mercy will not leave me—
Truth doth evermore abide—
Then in Thee will I confide.
Since Thy Word cannot deceive me,
My salvation is to me
Well assured eternally.I will praise Thy great compassion,
Faithful Father, God of grace,
That with all our fallen race
And in our deep degradation
Thou wast merciful that we
Might bring endless praise to Thee.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[2Co 9:15] Thanks For The Bible
Thanks for Thy Word, O blessèd Redeemer!
Open our eyes its beauty to see;
Grant us Thy grace to study it wisely,
Close every heart to all but Thee.Refrain
Thanks for the Bible, off’ring so freely
Pardon and peace to all who believe;
Help us, O Lord, its counsel to follow,
Meekly by faith its truth receive.Thanks for Thy Word of precept and promise,
Lamp to our feet and light to our way,
Points us afar where pleasures immortal
Bloom in Thine own bright realm of day.Refrain
Blessèd are they who keep its commandments,
They shall abide for ever with Thee;
Close by the clear and beautiful river,
Sharing the fruits of life’s fair tree.Refrain
