2 Corinthians 1:4

Context
1:4 who comforts us in all our troubles 1  so that we may be able to comfort those experiencing any trouble 2  with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

2 Corinthians 5:16

5:16 So then from now on we acknowledge 3  no one from an outward human point of view. 4  Even though we have known Christ from such a human point of view, 5  now we do not know him in that way any longer.

2 Corinthians 7:9

7:9 Now I rejoice, not because you were made sad, 6  but because you were made sad to the point of repentance. For you were made sad as God intended, 7  so that you were not harmed 8  in any way by us.

2 Corinthians 9:4

9:4 For if any of the Macedonians should come with me and find that you are not ready to give, we would be humiliated 9  (not to mention you) by this confidence we had in you. 10

6 tn Grk “were grieved” (so also twice later in the verse).

7 tn Grk “corresponding to God,” that is, corresponding to God’s will (κατὰ θεόν, kata qeon). The same phrase occurs in vv. 10 and 11.

8 tn Grk “so that you did not suffer loss.”

9 tn Or “be disgraced”; Grk “be put to shame.”

10 tn Grk “by this confidence”; the words “we had in you” are not in the Greek text, but are supplied as a necessary clarification for the English reader.
