2 Chronicles 8:14

Context
8:14 As his father David had decreed, Solomon 1  appointed the divisions of the priests to do their assigned tasks, the Levitical orders to lead worship and help the priests with their daily tasks, 2  and the divisions of the gatekeepers to serve at their assigned gates. 3  This was what David the man of God had ordered. 4

2 Chronicles 13:11

Context
13:11 They offer burnt sacrifices to the Lord every morning and every evening, along with fragrant incense. They arrange the Bread of the Presence on a ritually clean table and light the lamps on the gold lampstand every evening. Certainly 5  we are observing the Lord our God’s regulations, but you have rejected him.

2 Chronicles 30:8

Context
30:8 Now, don’t be stubborn 6  like your fathers! Submit 7  to the Lord and come to his sanctuary which he has permanently consecrated. Serve the Lord your God so that he might relent from his raging anger. 8

1 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Solomon) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

2 tn Heb “and the Levites, according to their posts, to praise and to serve opposite the priests according to the matter of a day in its day.”

3 tn Heb “and the gatekeepers by their divisions for a gate and a gate.”

4 tn Heb “for so [was] the command of David the man of God.”

5 tn Or “for.”

6 tn Heb “don’t stiffen your neck” (a Hebrew idiom for being stubborn).

7 tn Heb “give a hand.” On the meaning of the idiom here, see HALOT 387 s.v. I יָד 2.

8 tn Heb “so that the rage of his anger might turn from you.” The jussive with vav conjunctive indicates purpose/result after the preceding imperative.
