2 Chronicles 8:11

Context

8:11 Solomon moved Pharaoh’s daughter up from the City of David 1  to the palace he had built for her, for he said, “My wife must not live in the palace of King David of Israel, for the places where the ark of the Lord has entered are holy.”

2 Chronicles 23:20

Context
23:20 He summoned 2  the officers of the units of hundreds, the nobles, the rulers of the people, and all the people of land, and he then led the king down from the Lord’s temple. They entered the royal palace through the Upper Gate and seated the king on the royal throne.

2 Chronicles 32:21

Context
32:21 The Lord sent a messenger 3  and he wiped out all the soldiers, princes, and officers in the army of the king of Assyria. So Sennacherib 4  returned home humiliated. 5  When he entered the temple of his god, some of his own sons 6  struck him down with the sword.

1 sn The phrase the City of David refers here to the fortress of Zion in Jerusalem, not to Bethlehem. See 2 Sam 5:7.

2 tn Heb “took.”

3 tn Or “an angel.”

4 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Sennacherib) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

5 tn Heb “and he returned with shame of face to his land.”

6 tn Heb “and some from those who went out from him, from his inward parts.”
