2 Chronicles 21:2

Context
Jehoram’s Reign

21:2 His brothers, Jehoshaphat’s sons, were Azariah, Jechiel, Zechariah, Azariahu, Michael, and Shephatiah. All of these were sons of King Jehoshaphat of Israel. 5

1 tn Heb “these [were] the officials of the governors who belonged to the king, Solomon, 250, the ones ruling over the people.”

2 tn Or perhaps “from Judah, commanders of the thousands.”

3 tn Heb “set ambushers against.” This is probably idiomatic here for launching a surprise attack.

4 tn Heb “the sons of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir.”

5 sn A number of times in 2 Chronicles “Israel” is used instead of the more specific “Judah”; see 2 Chr 12:6; 23:2). In the interest of consistency some translations (e.g., NAB, NRSV) substitute “Judah” for “Israel” here.
