2 Chronicles 7:14

Context
7:14 if my people, who belong to me, 1  humble themselves, pray, seek to please me, 2  and repudiate their sinful practices, 3  then I will respond 4  from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. 5

2 Chronicles 24:18

Context
24:18 They abandoned the temple of the Lord God of their ancestors, 6  and worshiped 7  the Asherah poles and idols. Because of this sinful activity, God was angry with Judah and Jerusalem.

2 Chronicles 28:13

Context
28:13 They said to them, “Don’t bring those captives here! Are you planning on making us even more sinful and guilty before the Lord? 8  Our guilt is already great and the Lord is very angry at Israel.” 9

1 tn Heb “over whom my name is called.” The Hebrew idiom “call the name over” indicates ownership. See 2 Sam 12:28.

2 tn Heb “seek my face,” where “my face” is figurative for God’s presence and acceptance.

3 tn Heb “and turn from their sinful ways.”

4 tn Heb “hear.”

5 sn Here the phrase heal their land means restore the damage done by the drought, locusts and plague mentioned in v. 13.

6 tn Heb “fathers” (also in v. 24).

7 tn Heb “served.”

8 tn Heb “for to the guilt of the Lord upon us you are saying to add to our sins and our guilty deeds.”

9 tn Heb “for great is [the] guilt to us and rage of anger is upon Israel.”
