28:19 The Lord humiliated 1  Judah because of King Ahaz of Israel, 2  for he encouraged Judah to sin and was very 3  unfaithful to the Lord.

2 Chronicles 30:7

Context
30:7 Don’t be like your fathers and brothers who were unfaithful to the Lord God of their ancestors, 4  provoking him to destroy them, 5  as you can see.

1 tn Or “subdued.”

2 sn That is, “of Judah.” Frequently in 2 Chronicles “Israel” is substituted for “Judah.”

3 tn The infinitive absolute precedes the finite verbal form to emphasize the degree of Ahaz’s unfaithfulness.

4 tn Heb “fathers” (also in vv. 19, 22).

5 tn Heb “and he made them a devastation” (or, perhaps, “an object of horror”).
