2 Chronicles 24:25

Context
24:25 When they withdrew, they left Joash 1  badly wounded. His servants plotted against him because of what he had done to 2  the son 3  of Jehoiada the priest. They murdered him on his bed. Thus 4  he died and was buried in the City of David, 5  but not in the tombs of the kings.

2 Chronicles 35:24

Context
35:24 So his servants took him out of the chariot, put him in another chariot that he owned, and brought him to Jerusalem, 6  where he died. He was buried in the tombs of his ancestors; 7  all the people of Judah and Jerusalem mourned Josiah.

1 tn Heb “him”; the referent (Joash) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

2 tn Heb “because of the shed blood of.”

3 tc The MT has the plural בְּנֵי (bÿney, “sons”), but the final yod is dittographic. Note the yod that immediately follows.

4 tn Heb “and he died.”

5 sn The phrase the City of David refers here to the fortress of Zion in Jerusalem, not to Bethlehem. See 2 Sam 5:7.
