2 Chronicles 20:2

Context
20:2 Messengers¹ arrived and reported to Jehoshaphat, “A huge army is attacking you from the other side of the Dead Sea,² from the direction of Edom.³ Look, they are in Hazezon Tamar (that is, En Gedi).”

2 Chronicles 20:24

Context
20:24 When the men of Judah⁴ arrived at the observation post overlooking the desert and looked at⁵ the huge army, they saw dead bodies on the ground; there were no survivors!

¹tn Heb “they”; the implied referent (messengers) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

²tn Heb “the Sea”; in context (“from the direction of Edom”) this must refer to the Dead Sea, which has been specified in the translation for clarity (cf. NEB, NLT).

³tc Most Hebrew mss read “from Aram” (i.e., Syria), but this must be a corruption of “Edom,” which is the reading of the LXX and Vulgate.

⁴tn Heb “Judah.” The words “the men of” are supplied in the translation for clarity. The Hebrew text uses the name “Judah” by metonymy for the men of Judah.

⁵tn Heb “turned toward.”

displaying	set the max displaying in one page.	"20" will set displaying max to 20 per page
range	set searching range	"All Bible", "Old Testament", "New Testament"
