2:18 He designated 1  70,000 as common laborers, 2  80,000 as stonecutters 3  in the hills, and 3,600 as supervisors to make sure the people completed the work. 4 

2 Chronicles 21:11

Context
21:11 He also built high places on the hills of Judah; he encouraged the residents of Jerusalem to be unfaithful to the Lord 5  and led Judah away from the Lord. 6 

2 Chronicles 26:10

Context
26:10 He built towers in the desert and dug many cisterns, for he owned many herds in the lowlands 7  and on the plain. He had workers in the fields and vineyards in the hills and in Carmel, 8  for he loved agriculture. 9 

1 tn Heb “made.”

2 tn Heb “carriers of loads.”

3 tn Or “quarry workers”; Heb “cutters” (probably referring to stonecutters).

4 tn Heb “and thirty-six hundred [as] supervisors to compel the people to work.”

5 tn Heb “and he caused the residents of Jerusalem to commit adultery.” In this context spiritual unfaithfulness to the Lord is in view rather than physical adultery.

6 tn Heb “and drove Judah away.”

7 tn Heb “Shephelah.”

8 tn Heb “workers and vinedressers in the hills and in Carmel.” The words “he had” are supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons.

9 tn Heb “for a lover of the ground he [was].”
