2 Chronicles 2:10

Context
2:10 Look, I will pay your servants who cut the timber 20,000 kors 1  of ground wheat, 20,000 kors of barley, 120,000 gallons 2  of wine, and 120,000 gallons of olive oil.”

2 Chronicles 6:18

Context

6:18 “God does not really live with humankind on the earth! 3  Look, if the sky and the highest heaven cannot contain you, how much less this temple I have built!

2 Chronicles 18:12

Context
18:12 Now the messenger who went to summon Micaiah said to him, “Look, the prophets are in complete agreement that the king will succeed. 4  Your words must agree with theirs; you must predict success!” 5

2 Chronicles 20:2

Context
20:2 Messengers 6  arrived and reported to Jehoshaphat, “A huge army is attacking you from the other side of the Dead Sea, 7  from the direction of Edom. 8  Look, they are in Hazezon Tamar (that is, En Gedi).”

2 Chronicles 20:12

Context
20:12 Our God, will you not judge them? For we are powerless against this huge army that attacks us! We don’t know what we should do; we look to you for help.” 9

1 sn As a unit of dry measure a kor was roughly equivalent to six bushels (about 220 liters).

2 tn Heb “20,000 baths” (also a second time later in this verse). A bath was a liquid measure roughly equivalent to six gallons (about 22 liters), so this was a quantity of about 120,000 gallons (440,000 liters).

3 tn Heb “Indeed, can God really live with mankind on the earth?” The rhetorical question expects the answer, “Of course not,” the force of which is reflected in the translation “God does not really live with mankind on the earth.”

4 tn Heb “the words of the prophets are [with] one mouth good for the king.”

5 tn Heb “let your words be like one of them and speak good.”

6 tn Heb “they”; the implied referent (messengers) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

7 tn Heb “the Sea”; in context (“from the direction of Edom”) this must refer to the Dead Sea, which has been specified in the translation for clarity (cf. NEB, NLT).

8 tc Most Hebrew mss read “from Aram” (i.e., Syria), but this must be a corruption of “Edom,” which is the reading of the LXX and Vulgate.

9 tn Heb “for [or “indeed”] upon you are our eyes.”
