2 Chronicles 16:1

16:1 In the thirty-sixth year of Asa’s reign, King Baasha of Israel attacked Judah, and he established Ramah as a military outpost to prevent anyone from leaving or entering the land of King Asa of Judah. 1

36:16 But they mocked God’s messengers, despised his warnings, 2  and ridiculed his prophets. 3  Finally the Lord got very angry at his people and there was no one who could prevent his judgment. 4 

1 tn Heb “and he built up Ramah so as to not permit going out or coming in to Asa king of Judah.”

2 tn Heb “his words.”

3 tn All three verbal forms (“mocked,” “despised,” and “ridiculed”) are active participles in the Hebrew text, indicating continual or repeated action. They made a habit of rejecting God’s prophetic messengers.

4 tn Heb “until the anger of the Lord went up against his people until there was no healer.”
