2 Chronicles 32:12

Context
32:12 Hezekiah is the one who eliminated 8  the Lord’s 9  high places and altars and then told Judah and Jerusalem, “At one altar you must worship and offer sacrifices.”

1 tn Or “high place.”

2 tn Heb “the tent of meeting of God.”

3 tn The Hebrew pronoun is plural, suggesting that Solomon and all Israel (or perhaps Solomon and his successors) are in view. To convey this to the English reader, the translation “you people” has been employed.

4 tn Heb “which I placed before you.”

5 tn Heb “and walk and serve other gods and bow down to them.”

6 tn Heb “and after them from all the tribes of Israel, the ones giving their heart[s] to seek the Lord God of Israel came [to] Jerusalem.”

7 tn Heb “fathers.”

8 tn Heb “Did not he, Hezekiah, eliminate…?” This rhetorical question presupposes a positive reply (“yes, he did”) and so has been translated here as a positive statement.

9 tn Heb “his”; the referent (the Lord) has been specified in the translation for clarity.
