 tn Or “high place.”

tn Heb “the tent of meeting of God.”

sn The tabernacle was located in Gibeon; see 1 Chr 21:29.

tn Heb “sought [or “inquired of”] him.”

 tn Heb “counted.”

tn Heb “they could not be seen outside.”

 tn Heb “said.”

tn Heb “one who keeps the covenant and the loyal love.”

tn Heb “who walk before you with all their heart.”

tc The parallel text of 1 Kgs 10:19 has instead “and the back of it was rounded on top.”

tn Heb “[There were] armrests on each side of the place of the seat, and two lions standing beside the armrests.”

tn Heb “Judah.” The words “the men of” are supplied in the translation for clarity. The Hebrew text uses the name “Judah” by metonymy for the men of Judah.

 tn Heb “turned toward.”

 tn Or “army.”

tc The MT reads פְגָרִים (fÿgarim, “corpses”), but this seems odd among a list of plunder. A few medieval Hebrew mss and the Vulgate read בְגָדִים (vÿgadim, “clothing”), which fits the context much better.

tn Heb “and they snatched away for themselves so that there was no carrying away.”

tn Heb “and they were three days looting the plunder for it was great.”

tn Heb “and they conspired against him [with] a conspiracy in Jerusalem.”

tn Heb “and they sent after him to Lachish.”

 tn Or “established.”

 tn Heb “his words.”

tn All three verbal forms (“mocked,” “despised,” and “ridiculed”) are active participles in the Hebrew text, indicating continual or repeated action. They made a habit of rejecting God’s prophetic messengers.

tn Heb “until the anger of the Lord went up against his people until there was no healer.”
