• [1Pe 4:1] O Thou Who Through This Holy Week

  O Thou, who through this holy week, Didst suffer for us all, The sick to heal, the lost to seek, To raise up them that fall. We cannot understand the woe Thy love was pleased to bear: O Lamb of God, we only know That all our hopes are there. Thy feet the path of suffering trod, Thy hand the vict’ry won: What shall we render to our God For all that He hath done? To God, the blessèd Three in One, All praise and glory be: Crown, Lord, Thy servants who have won The victory through Thee.

  Do not be surprised at the suffering you bear; It’s not something strange, so you must not despair. Rejoice that you share with Christ and His sufferings know; When He comes in glory, your joy will o’erflow. Refrain If God should will that you suffer ill, Commit yourself gladly His will to fulfill. If you are insulted because of Christ’s Name, You’re blessed, for God’s Spirit on you will remain. Your suffering should never be for what deserves blame; But if for your faith you’re hurt, be not ashamed. Refrain God’s judgment will start with His own family. What then will the outcome for godless men be? In spite of your suffering, do good to all men; For God will be faithful to you to the end. Refrain

  Happy the souls to Jesus joined, And saved by grace alone, Walking in all His ways they find Their heaven on earth begun. The Church triumphant in Thy love, Their mighty joys we know; They sing the Lamb in hymns above, And we in hymns below. Thee in Thy glorious realm they praise, And bow before Thy throne, We in the kingdom of Thy grace: The kingdoms are but one. The holy to the holiest leads, From thence our spirits rise, And he that in Thy statutes treads Shall meet Thee in the skies.
