1 Corinthians 10:1-33

[1Co 10:13] Conflicting Feelings
Strange and mysterious is my life.
What opposites I feel within!
A stable peace, a constant strife;
The rule of grace, the power of sin:
Too often I am captive led,
Yet daily triumph in my Head,
Yet daily triumph in my Head.I prize the privilege of prayer,
But oh! what backwardness to pray!
Though on the Lord I cast my care,
I feel its burden every day;
I seek His will in all I do,
Yet find my own is working too,
Yet find my own is working too.I call the promises my own,
And prize them more than mines of gold;
Yet though their sweetness I have known,
They leave me unimpressed and cold
One hour upon the truth I feed,
The next I know not what I read,
The next I know not what I read.I love the holy day of rest,
When Jesus meets His gathered saints;
Sweet day, of all the week the best!
For its return my spirit pants:
Yet often, through my unbelief,
It proves a day of guilt and grief,
It proves a day of guilt and grief.While on my Savior I rely,
I know my foes shall lose their aim,
And therefore dare their power defy,
Assured of conquest through His Name,
But soon my confidence is slain,
And all my fears return again,
And all my fears return again.Thus different powers within me strive,
And grace and sin by turns prevail;
I grieve, rejoice, decline, revive,
And victory hangs in doubtful scale:
But Jesus has His promise passed,
That grace shall overcome at last,
That grace shall overcome at last.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[1Co 10:16] Jesus Invites His Saints
Jesus invites His saints
To meet around His board;
Here pardoned rebels sit and hold
Communion with their Lord.For food He gives His flesh,
He bids us drink His blood;
Amazing favor! matchless grace
Of our descending God!This holy bread and wine
Maintains our fainting breath,
By union with our living Lord,
And interest in His death.Our heav’nly Father calls
Christ and His members one;
We the young children of His love,
And He the first-born Son.We are but several parts
Of the same broken bread;
One body hath its several limbs,
But Jesus is the Head.Let all our powers be joined
His glorious Name to raise;
Pleasure and love fill every mind,
And every voice be praise.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[1Co 10:16] Let Thy Blood In Mercy Poured
Let Thy blood in mercy poured,
Let Thy gracious body broken,
Be to me, O gracious Lord,
Of Thy boundless love the token.Refrain
Thou didst give Thyself for me,
Now I give myself to Thee.Thou didst die that I might live;
Blessèd Lord, Thou cam’st to save me:
All that love of God could give
Jesus by His sorrows gave me.Refrain
By the thorns that crowned Thy brow,
By the spear wound and the nailing,
By the pain and death, I now
Claim, O Christ, Thy love unfailing.Refrain
Wilt Thou own the gift I bring?
All my penitence I give Thee;
Thou art my exalted King,
Of Thy matchless love forgive me.Refrain

[1Co 10:17] Lord Jesus Christ, We Humbly Pray
Lord Jesus Christ, we humbly pray
That we may feed on Thee today;
Beneath these forms of bread and wine
Enrich us with Thy grace divine.The chastened peace of sin forgiv’n,
The filial joy of heirs of Heav’n,
Grant as we share this wondrous food
Thy body broken and Thy blood.Our trembling hearts cleave to Thy Word;
All Thou hast said Thou dost afford,
All that Thou art we here receive,
And all we are to Thee we give.One bread, one cup, one body, we
United by our life in Thee,
Thy love proclaim till Thou shalt come
To bring Thy scattered loved ones home.Lord Jesus Christ, we humbly pray
To keep us steadfast to that day
That each may be Thy welcomed guest
When Thou shalt spread Thy heavenly feast.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[1Co 10:21] Author Of Life Divine
Author of life divine,
Who hast a table spread,
Furnished with mystic wine
And everlasting bread,
Preserve the life Thyself hast given,
And feed and train us up for Heav’n.Our needy souls sustain
With fresh supplies of love,
Till all Thy life we gain,
And all Thy fullness prove,
And, strengthened by Thy perfect grace,
Behold without a veil Thy face.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[1Co 10:26] O Throned, O Crowned With All Renown
O throned, O crowned with all renown,
Since Thou the earth hast trod,
Thou reignest, and by Thee come down
Henceforth the gifts of God.
By Thee the suns of space, that burn
Unspent, their watches hold;
The hosts that turn, and still return
Are swayed, and poised, and rolled.The powers of earth, for all her ills,
An endless treasure yield;
The precious things of ancient hills,
Forest, and fruitful field;
Thine is the health, and Thine the wealth
That in our halls abound;
And Thine the beauty and the joy
With which the years are crowned.And as, when ebbed the flood, our sires
Kneeled on the mountain sod,
While o’er the new world’s altar fires
Shone out the bow of God;
And sweetly fell the peaceful spell—
Word that shall aye avail—
“Summer and winter shall not cease,
Seed time nor harvest fail”;Thus in their change let frost and heat
And winds and dew be giv’n;
All fostering power, all influence sweet,
Breathe from the bounteous Heav’n.
Attemper fair with gentle air
The sunshine and the rain,
That kindly earth with timely birth
May yield her fruits again;That we may feed Thy poor aright,
And, gathering round Thy throne,
Here in the holy angels’ sight
Repay Thee of Thine own.
For so our sires in olden time
Spared neither gold nor gear,
Nor precious wood, nor hewen stone,
Thy sacred shines to rear.For there to give the second birth
In mysteries and signs,
The face of Christ o’er all the earth
On keeling myriads shines.
And if so fair beyond compare
Thine earthly houses be,
In how great grace shall we Thy face
In Thine own palace see?Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[1Co 10:31] Singing, Speaking, Praying
Sing a song of Jesus,
Happy be the strain,
Till the harmonies of Heaven
Fill the earth again.
Sing a song for Jesus,
Happy, happy be the strain,
Till the harmonies of Heaven
Fill the earth again.Speak a word for Jesus,
Scatter precious seed,
It may some poor wanderer
To the Savior lead.
Speak a word for Jesus,
Scatter, scatter precious seed,
It may some poor wanderer
To the Savior lead.Say a prayer to Jesus,
He will always hear;
To each precious blood-bought soul,
He is ever near.
Say a prayer to Jesus,
He will always, always hear,
To each precious blood-bought soul,
He is ever near.Singing, speaking, praying,
For the Lord of love,
Till He comes to take you home
To His Heav’n above.
Singing, speaking, praying,
For the Lord, the Lord of love,
Till He comes to take you home
To His Heav’n above.Play source: Cyberhymnal
