1 Samuel 24:10

Context
24:10 Today your own eyes see how the Lord delivered you – this very day – into my hands in the cave. Some told me to kill you, but I had pity 1  on you and said, ‘I will not extend my hand against my lord, for he is the Lord’s chosen one.’ 2

1 Samuel 25:25

Context
25:25 My lord should not pay attention to this wicked man Nabal. He simply lives up to his name! His name means ‘fool,’ and he is indeed foolish! 3  But I, your servant, did not see the servants my lord sent. 4

1 tn Heb “it had pity,” apparently with the understood subject being “my eye,” in accordance with a common expression.

2 tn Heb “anointed.”

3 tn Heb “and foolishness is with him.”

4 tn Heb “my lord’s servants, whom you sent.”
