1 Samuel 2:16

Context
2:16 If the individual said to him, “First let the fat be burned away, and then take for yourself whatever you wish,” he would say, “No! 1  Hand it over right now! If you don’t, I will take it forcibly!”

1 Samuel 14:16

Context

14:16 Saul’s watchmen at Gibeah in the territory of Benjamin 2  looked on 3  as the crowd of soldiers seemed to melt away first in one direction and then in another. 4

1 tc The translation follows the Qere and many medieval Hebrew mss (“no”) rather than the Kethib and MT, which read “to him.”

2 tn Heb “at Gibeah of Benjamin.” The words “in the territory” are supplied in the translation for clarity.

3 tn Heb “saw, and look!”

4 tn Heb “the crowd melted and went, even here.”
