tc Two medieval Hebrew mss, the LXX, and the Syriac Peshitta have the singular “he” (in which case the referent would be Saul alone).

tn Heb “they”; the referents (Saul and his servant) have been specified in the translation for clarity.

tn Heb “him”; the referent (Saul) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

 tn Heb “and look.”

tn Heb “and he turned and crossed over.”

tc At the end of v. 12 the LXX and one Old Latin ms include the following words not found in the MT: “to Saul. And behold, he was offering as a burnt offering to the Lord the best of the spoils that he had brought from the Amalekites.”

 tn Heb “said.”

 map For location see Map5 B1; Map7 E2; Map8 E2; Map10 B4.

tc In the MT the verb is singular (“he said”), but the translation follows many medieval Hebrew mss and ancient versions in reading the plural (“they said”).
