1 Samuel 1:23

Context

1:23 So her husband Elkanah said to her, “Do what you think best. 1  Stay until you have weaned him. May the Lord fulfill his promise.” 2 

So the woman stayed and nursed her son until she had weaned him.

1 Samuel 22:3

Context

22:3 Then David went from there to Mizpah in Moab, where he said to the king of Moab, “Please let my father and mother stay 3  with you until I know what God is going to do for me.”

1 Samuel 22:5

Context
22:5 Then Gad the prophet said to David, “Don’t stay in the stronghold. Go to the land of Judah.” So David left and went to the forest of Hereth.

1 tn Heb “what is good in your eyes.”

2 tn Heb “establish his word.” This apparently refers to the promise inherent in Eli’s priestly blessing (see v. 17).

3 tn Heb “go forth.”
