1 Samuel 1:19

Context

1:19 They got up early the next morning and after worshiping the Lord, they returned to their home at Ramah. Elkanah had marital relations with 1  his wife Hannah, and the Lord remembered 2  her.

1 Samuel 6:21

Context

6:21 So they sent messengers to the residents of Kiriath Jearim, saying, “The Philistines have returned the ark of the Lord. Come down here and take it back home with you.”

1 Samuel 7:14

Context

7:14 The cities that the Philistines had captured from Israel were returned to Israel, from Ekron to Gath. Israel also delivered their territory from the control 3  of the Philistines. There was also peace between Israel and the Amorites.

26:25 Saul replied to David, “May you be rewarded, 4  my son David! You will without question be successful!” 5  So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.

1 tn Heb “Elkanah knew his wife.” The Hebrew expression is a euphemism for sexual relations.

2 sn The Lord “remembered” her in the sense of granting her earlier request for a child. The Hebrew verb is often used in the OT for considering the needs or desires of people with favor and kindness.

3 tn Heb “hand.”

4 tn Heb “blessed.”

5 tn Heb “you will certainly do and also you will certainly be able.” The infinitive absolutes placed before the finite verbal forms lend emphasis to the statement.
