8:33 “The time will come when 5  your people Israel are defeated by an enemy 6  because they sinned against you. If they come back to you, renew their allegiance to you, 7  and pray for your help 8  in this temple,

9:3 The Lord said to him, “I have answered 9  your prayer and your request for help that you made to me. I have consecrated this temple you built by making it my permanent home; 10  I will be constantly present there. 11

2 tn Heb “by listening to.”

3 tn Heb “the loud cry and the prayer.”

4 tn Heb “praying before you.”

5 tn Heb “when.” In the Hebrew text vv. 33-34 actually contain one lengthy conditional sentence, which the translation has divided into two sentences for stylistic reasons.

6 tn Or “are struck down before an enemy.”

7 tn Heb “confess [or perhaps, “praise”] your name.”

8 tn Heb “and they pray and ask for help.”

9 tn Heb “I have heard.”

10 tn Heb “by placing my name there perpetually” (or perhaps, “forever”).

11 tn Heb “and my eyes and my heart will be there all the days.”
