1 Chronicles 7:15

Context
7:15 Now Makir married a wife from the Huppites and Shuppites. 2  (His sister’s name was Maacah.)

Zelophehad was Manasseh’s second son; 3  he had only daughters.

1 Chronicles 23:11

Context
23:11 Jahath was the oldest and Zizah the second oldest. Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons, so they were considered one family with one responsibility.

1 Chronicles 27:4

Context

27:4 Dodai the Ahohite was in charge of the division assigned the second month; Mikloth was the next in rank. 4  His division consisted of 24,000 men.

1 tc Heb “and the sons of Mareshah,” but this does not fit contextually. Perhaps the text originally had וּבְנוֹ מִשְׁנֶה מָרֵשָׁה (uvÿno mishneh mareshah, “and his second son, Mareshah”), with מִשְׁנֶה (“second”) later accidentally falling out by homoioteleuton (cf. the note in BHS here).

2 tn Some translations treat the terms שֻׁפִּים (shuppim) and חֻפִּים (khuppim) as proper names of individuals (“Huppim” and “Shuppim”), but others consider these forms to be plurals and refer to tribal or clan names.

3 tn Heb “and the name of the second was Zelophehad.”

4 tn Heb “the leader.”
