Context17:21 And who is like your people, Israel, a unique nation 1 in the earth? Their God 2 went to claim 3 a nation for himself! You made a name for yourself by doing great and awesome deeds 4 when you drove out 5 nations before your people whom you had delivered from the Egyptian empire and its gods. 6

Context22:5 David said, “My son Solomon is just an inexperienced young man, 7 and the temple to be built for the Lord must be especially magnificent so it will become famous and be considered splendid by all the nations. 8 Therefore I will make preparations for its construction.” So David made extensive preparations before he died.
1 tn Heb “a nation, one.”
2 tn Heb “whose God,” or “because God.” In the Hebrew text this clause is subordinated to what precedes. The clauses are separated in the translation for stylistic reasons.

4 tn Heb “to make for yourself a name [with] great and awesome [deeds].”

6 tn Heb “from Egypt, nations.” The parallel text in 2 Sam 7:23 reads “from Egypt, nations and its gods.”
