Psalms 34:2

34:2 I will boast in the Lord;

let the oppressed hear and rejoice!

Psalms 109:19

109:19 May a curse attach itself to him, like a garment one puts on,

or a belt one wears continually!

tn Heb “my soul will boast”; or better, “let my soul boast.” Following the cohortative form in v. 1, it is likely that the prefixed verbal form here is jussive.

tn The two prefixed verbal forms in this verse are best taken as jussives, for the psalmist is calling his audience to worship (see v. 3).

tn Heb “may it be for him like a garment one puts on.”

tn The Hebrew noun מֵזַח (mezakh, “belt; waistband”) occurs only here in the OT. The form apparently occurs in Isa 23:10 as well, but an emendation is necessary there.
