The Beginning of Jesus’ Ministry in Galilee

4:14 Then Jesus, in the power of the Spirit, returned to Galilee, and news about him spread throughout the surrounding countryside.

Luke 8:55

8:55 Her spirit returned, and she got up immediately. Then he told them to give her something to eat.

tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “then” to indicate the implied sequence of events within the narrative.

sn Once again Jesus is directed by the Spirit. Luke makes a point about Jesus’ association with the Spirit early in his ministry (3:22, 4:1 [2x]; 4:18).

tn Grk “went out.”

tn Grk “all the surrounding region.”

tn Grk “And her.” Here καί (kai) has not been translated because of differences between Greek and English style.

sn In other words, she came back to life; see Acts 20:10.

tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “then” to indicate the implied sequence of events within the narrative. Because of the length and complexity of the Greek sentence, a new sentence was started here in the translation.
