Leviticus 11:42

11:42 You must not eat anything that crawls ¹  on its belly or anything that walks on all fours or on any number of legs ²  of all the swarming things that swarm on the land, because they are detestable.

Leviticus 13:13

13:13 the priest must then examine it, ³  and if ⁴  the disease covers his whole body, he is to pronounce the person with the infection clean. ⁵  He has turned all white, so he is clean. ⁶

¹ tn Heb “goes” (KJV, ASV “goeth”); NIV “moves about”; NLT “slither along.” The same Hebrew term is translated “walks” in the following clause.

² tn Heb “until all multiplying of legs.”

³ tn Heb “and the priest shall see.” The pronoun “it” is unexpressed, but it should be assumed and it refers to the infection (cf. the note on v. 8 above).
