John 16:7

16:7 But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I am going away. For if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you, but if I go, I will send him to you.

John 19:15

19:15 Then they shouted out, “Away with him! Away with him! Crucify him!” Pilate asked, “Shall I crucify your king?” The high priests replied, “We have no king except Caesar!”

tn Or “Helper” or “Counselor”; Grk “Paraclete,” from the Greek word παράκλητος (paraklhto"). See the note on the word “Advocate” in John 14:16 for a discussion of how this word is translated.

tn Grk “Then these.”

tn The words “with him” (twice) are not in the Greek text. Direct objects were often omitted in Greek when clear from the context.

sn See the note on Crucify in 19:6.

tn Grk “Pilate said to them.” The words “to them” are not translated because it is clear in English who Pilate is addressing.
