  Hear my words, O gracious Lord, To my thoughts attentive be; Hear my cry, my King, my God, I will make my prayer to Thee. With the morning light, O Lord, Thou shalt hear my voice arise, And expectant I will bring Prayer as morning sacrifice. Thou art holy, O my God, Thou delightest not in sin; Evil shall not dwell with Thee, Nor the proud Thy favor win. In the fullness of Thy grace To Thy house I will repair; Bowing toward Thy holy place, Lost in love I worship there.

In the fullness of Thy grace To Thy house I will repair; Bowing toward Thy holy place, In Thy fear to worship there. Lead me in Thy righteousness, Let my foes assail in vain; Lest my feet be turned aside, Make Thy way before me plain. False and faithless are my foes, In their mouth no truth is found; Deadly are the words they speak, All their thoughts with sin abound. Bring, O God, their plans to naught, Hold them guilty in Thy sight, For against Thee and Thy law They have set themselves to fight. O let all that trust Thy care Ever glad and joyful be; Let them joy who love Thy Name, Safely guarded, Lord, by Thee. For a blessing from Thy store To the righteous Thou wilt yield; Thou wilt compass him about With Thy favor as a shield.

  Another day begun! Lord, grant us grace that we, Before the setting of the sun, Redeem the time for Thee. Another day of toil! To Thee we yield our powers; Keep Thou our souls from guilty soil Through all the passing hours. Another day of fear! For watchful is our foe, And sin is strong, and death is near, And short our time below. Another day of hope! For Thou art with us still, And Thine almighty strength can cope With all who seek our ill. Another day of grace To help us on our way! One step towards the resting-place, The eternal Sabbath-day.

  As the sun doth daily rise, Brightening all the morning skies, So to Thee with one accord Lift we up our hearts, O Lord. Day by day provide us food, For from Thee come all things good; Strength unto our souls afford From Thy living bread, O Lord. Be our guard in sin and strife; Be the leader of our life; Lest from Thee we stray abroad, Stay our wayward feet, O Lord. Quickened by the Spirit’s grace All Thy holy will to trace While we daily search Thy Word, Wisdom true impart, O Lord. Praise we, with the heavenly host, Father, Son and Holy Ghost; Thee would we with one accord Praise and magnify, O Lord.

I with Thee would begin and go forth in Thy Name, Which alone doth salvation bestow; Fold me close to Thy breast where found joy all who came, There is refuge for me, too, I know, Though all in this world is confusion. Let Thy Word all divine be my lamp in whose light I may constantly keep to Thy way; And each day wouldst Thou cleanse me anew, make me white In the blood shed for me on that day The cross Thou didst suffer, Lord Jesus. I with Thee would begin—yea, and hear one more prayer, I would close with Thee, too, my brief day, And when daylight has failed, let me sleep in Thy care, Until waking Thy child Thou dost say, “Come, live with Me ever in Heaven.”

  My opening eyes with rapture see The dawn of this returning day; My thoughts, O God, ascend to Thee, While thus my early vows I pay. O bid this trifling world retire, And drive each carnal thought away; Nor let me feel one vain desire, One sinful thought, through all the day.   Now that the daylight fills the sky, We lift our hearts to God on high, That He, in all we do or say, Would keep us free from harm today. May He restrain our tongues from strife, And shield from anger’s din our life, And guard with watchful care our eyes From earth’s absorbing vanities. O may our inmost hearts be pure, From thoughts of folly kept secure, And pride of sinful flesh subdued Through sparing use of daily food. So we, when this day’s work is o’er, And shades of night return once more, Our path of trial safely trod, Shall give the glory to our God. All praise to God the Father be, All praise, eternal Son, to Thee, Whom with the Spirit we adore Forever and forevermore.

  O Father, hear my morning prayer, Thine aid impart to me, That I may make my life today Acceptable to Thee. May this desire my spirit rule, And, as the moments fly, Something of good be born in me, Something of evil die.   You that have spent the silent night In sleep and quiet rest, And joy to see the cheerful light That riseth in the east, Now clear your voice, now cheer your heart, Come, help me now to sing; Each willing wight, come bear a part, To praise the heavenly King.   Jesus, still lead on, till our rest be won, And, although the way be cheerless, We will follow calm and fearless, Guide us by Thy hand to our fatherland. If the way be drear, if the foe be near, Let no faithless fears o’ertake us, Let not faith and hope forsake us, For through many a woe to our home we go. When we seek relief from a long felt grief; When temptations come alluring, Make us patient and enduring; Show us that bright shore where we weep no more. Jesus, still lead on, till our rest be won; Heavenly Leader, still direct us, Still support, control, protect us, Till we safely stand in our fatherland.

Jehovah is God, and Jehovah alone, Creator and Ruler o’er all; And we are His people, His scepter we own, His sheep, and we follow His call, His sheep, and we follow His call. O enter His gates with thanksgiving and song! Your vows in His temple proclaim; His praise with melodious accordance prolong, And bless His adorable Name, And bless His adorable Name.
