A name for several aroid plants (Colocasia antiquorum , var. esculenta , Colocasia macrorhiza , etc.), and their rootstocks. They have large ovate-sagittate leaves and large fleshy tuberous rootstocks, which are cooked and used for food in tropical countries. [1913 Webster]
