sambur, n. [Hind. sāmbar, sābar.].
An East Indian deer (Rusa Aristotelis ) having a mane on its neck. Its antlers have but three prongs. Called also gerow . The name is applied to other species of the genus Rusa , as the Bornean sambur (R. equina ). [1913 Webster]
