crucian carp,  [Cf. Sw. karussa, G. karausche, F. carousse, -assin, corassin, LL. coracinus, Gr. a sort of fish.].

 A kind of European carp (Carasius vulgaris), inferior to the common carp; -- called also German carp.  [1913 Webster]
