Gannet, n. [OE. gant, AS. ganet, ganot, a sea fowl, a fen duck; akin to D. gent gander, OHG. ganazzo. See Gander, Goose.].

 One of several species of sea birds of the genus Sula, allied to the pelicans.  [1913 Webster]
