C4H6.(OH)4 , of a sweet, cooling taste, extracted from certain lichens, and obtained by the decomposition of erythrin; -- called alsoerythrol ,erythroglucin ,erythromannite ,pseudorcin ,cobalt bloom , and under the namephycite obtained from the algaProtococcus vulgaris .
