spinagen. [OF. espinache, espinoche, F. épinard; cf. F. spinace, Sp. espinaca; all fr. Ar. isfānāj, isfināj, aspanākh, probably of Persian origin.].
     A common pot herb (Spinacia oleracea) belonging to the Goosefoot family.  [1913 Webster]
