Elasah [EBD]

God made. (1.) One of the descendants of Judah, of the family of Hezron (1 Chr. 2:39, "Eleasah").

(2.) A descendant of king Saul (1 Chr. 8:37; 9:43).

(3.) The son of Shaphan, one of the two who were sent by Zedekiah to Nebuchadnezzar, and also took charge of Jeremiah's letter to the captives in Babylon (Jer. 29:3).

Name of two men, or of one man, uncertain which, called also Elasah. Compare 1 Chr. 2:39; 8:37; 9:43, with Jer. 29:3, and Ezra 10:22.

(2) A son of Shaphan, by whom, with Gemariah, King Zedekiah sent a message to Babylon (Jer 29:3).
