Isaiah 60
- [Isa 60:1] All Ye Gentile Lands Awake!
All ye Gentile lands awake!
Thou, O Salem, rise and shine!
See the day-spring o’er you break,
Heralding a morn divine,
Telling, God hath called to mind
Those who long in darkness pined.Lo! the shadows flee away,
For our Light is come at length,
Brighter than all earthly day,
Source of being, life and strength!
Whoso on this Light would gaze
Must forsake all evil ways.Ah how blindly did we stray
Ere shone forth this glorious Sun,
Seeking each his separate way,
Leaving Heaven, unsought, unwon;
All our looks were earthward bent,
All our strength on earth was spent.Earthly were our thoughts and low,
In the toils of folly caught,
Tossed of Satan to and fro,
Counting goodness all for naught;
By the world and flesh deceived,
Heaven’s true joys we disbelieved.Then were hidden from our eyes
All the law and grace of God;
Rich and poor, the fools and wise,
Wanting light to find the road
Leading to the heavenly life,
Wandered lost in care and strife.But the glory of the Lord
Hath arisen on us today;
We have seen the light outpoured
That must surely drive away
All things that to night belong,
All the sad earth’s woe and wrong.Thy arising, Lord, shall fill
All my thoughts in sorrow’s hour;
Thy arising, Lord, shall still
All my dread of death’s dark power;
Through my smiles and through my tears
Still Thy light, O Lord, appears.Let me, Lord in peace depart
From this evil world to Thee;
Where Thyself sole Brightness art,
Thou hast kept a place for me:
In the shining city there
Crowns of light Thy saints shall wear.source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:1] Behold, The Joyful Day Is Nigh
Behold, the joyful day is nigh,
And angels’ voices from on high
Proclaim the news in early morn
That the Good Shepherd now is born.In quiet splendor forth He comes,
The scattered sheep and tender lambs
To gather, and their fold prepare
With all a shepherd’s tender care.The gentle Shepherd we behold
Who, not with silver and with gold,
But by His suffering and His death
Will save us from eternal wrath.His Church, though small its seed may be,
Shall grow into a mighty tree.
With fruitful branches spreading o’er
The earth till time shall be no more.Arise and shine, thy Light is come,
O humankind, O Christendom;
Thy glory and thy peace is here;
The Savior of the world draws near.All praise and glory be to Thee;
For wisdom, power, and majesty;
And for Thy grace, and mercy, Lord,
Forever be Thy Name adored.Play source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:1] Lift Up, Lift Up Your Voice
Lift up, lift up thy voice with singing,
Dear land, with strength lift up thy voice!
The kingdoms of the earth are bringing
Their treasures to thy gates—Rejoice!Refrain
Arise and shine in youth immortal,
Thy Light is come, thy King appears!
Beyond the century’s swinging portal,
Breaks a new dawn—the thousand years.And shall His flock with strife be riven?
Shall envious lines His church divide,
When He, the Lord of earth and Heaven,
Stands at the door to claim His bride?Refrain
Lift up thy gates! Bring forth oblations!
One crowned with crowns a message brings:
His Word, a sword to smite the nations;
His Name—The Christ, the King of kings.Refrain
He comes! Let all the earth adore Him;
The path His human nature trod
Spreads to a royal realm before Him,
The Life of life, The Word of God!Refrain

Rise, glorious Conqueror, rise,
Into Thy native skies;
Assume Thy right;
And where in many a fold
The clouds are backward rolled
Pass through those gates of gold,
And reign in light!Victor o’er death and hell!
Cherubic legions swell!
Thy radiant train;
Praises all heaven inspire;
Each angel sweeps his lyre.
And waves his wings of fire—
Thou Lamb once slain!Enter, incarnate God!
No feet but Thine have trod
The serpent down:
Blow the full trumpets blow!
Wider your portals throw!
Savior triumphant, go
And take Thy crown!Lion of Judah! Hail!
And let Thy Name prevail
From age to age;
Lord of the rolling years,
Claim for Thine own the spheres,
For Thou hast bought with tears
Thy heritage!And then was heard afar
Star answering to star—
“Lo! these have come
Followers of Him Who gave
His life their lives to save;
And now their palms they wave,
Brought safely home.”Play source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:2] Arise, O God, And Shine
Arise, O God, and shine
In all Thy saving might,
And prosper each design
To spread Thy glorious light;
Let healing streams of mercy flow
That all the earth Thy truth may know.Bring distant nations near
To sing Thy glorious praise;
Let every people hear
And learn Thy holy ways.
Reign, mighty God, assert Thy cause
And govern by Thy righteous laws.Put forth Thy glorious power
That Gentiles all may see
And earth present her store
In converts born to Thee.
God, our own God, His Church will bless
And fill the world with righteousness.To God, the only Wise,
The one immortal King,
Let hallelujahs rise
From every living thing;
Let all that breathe, on every coast
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.Play source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:3] Break Forth, O Beauteous Heavenly Light
Break forth, O beauteous heavenly light,
And usher in the morning;
O shepherds, shrink not with afright,
But hear the angel’s warning.
This Child, now weak in infancy,
Our confidence and joy shall be,
The power of Satan breaking,
Our peace eternal making.Play source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:3] Come, Ye Lofty
Come, ye lofty, come, ye lowly,
Let your songs of gladness ring;
In a stable lies the Holy,
In a manger rests the King:
See in Mary’s arms reposing
Christ by highest Heav’n adored:
Come, your circle round Him closing,
Pious hearts that love the Lord.Come ye poor, no pomp of station
Robes the Child your hearts adore;
He, the Lord of all salvation,
Shares your want, is weak and poor:
Oxen, round about behold them;
Rafters naked, cold, and bare,
See the shepherds, God has told them
That the Prince of Life lies there.Come, ye children, blithe and merry,
This one Child your model make;
Christmas holly, leaf, and berry,
All be prized for His dear sake:
Come ye gentle hearts and tender,
Come ye spirits keen and bold;
All in all your homage render,
Weak and mighty, young and old.High above a star is shining,
And the wise men haste from far:
Come, glad hearts, and spirits pining—
For you all has ris’n the star.
Let us bring our poor oblations,
Thanks and love, and faith and praise;
Come, ye people, come, ye nations,
All in all draw nigh to gaze.Hark the Heav’n of heav’ns is ringing:
Christ the Lord to man is born!
Are not all our hearts, too, singing,
Welcome, welcome, Christmas morn?
Still the Child, all power possessing,
Smiles as through the ages past;
And the song of Christmas blessing
Sweetly sinks to rest at last.Play source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:3] Coming, Coming, Yes, They Are
Refrain
Coming, coming, yes they are,
Coming, coming from afar,From the wild and scorching desert,
Afric’s sons awaked from sleep;
Jesus’ love has drawn and won them,
At His cross they bow and weep.Refrain
From the fields and crowded cities,
China gathers to His feet;
In His love Shem’s gentle children,
Now have found a safe retreat.Refrain
From the Indus, and the Ganges,
Steady flows the living stream,
To love’s ocean, to His bosom,
Calvary their wond’ring theme.Refrain
From the steppes of Russia dreary,
From Slavonia’s scattered lands,
They are yielding soul and spirit
Into Jesus’ loving hands.Refrain
From the frozen realms of midnight,
Over many a weary mile,
To exchange their soul’s long winter
For the summer of His smile.Refrain
All to meet in plains of glory,
All to sing His praises sweet;
What a chorus, what a meeting,
With the family complete!Refrain
Play source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:3] Lord, A Savior’s Love Displaying
Lord, a Savior’s love displaying,
Show the heathen lands Thy way;
Thousands still like sheep are straying
In the dark and cloudy day.Shades of death are gathering o’er them,
Lord, they perish from Thy sight!
Let Thine angel go before them;
Bring the Gentiles to Thy Light.Fetch them home from every nation,
From the islands of the sea;
By the word of Thy salvation
Call the wanderers back to Thee.Thou their pasture hast provided,
Grant the blessing long foretold;
Let Thy sheep, divinely guided,
Find at last the one true Fold.Play source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:3] Rise, Thou Light Of Gentile Nations
Rise, Thou Light of Gentile nations,
Jesus, bright and Morning Star;
Let Thy Word, the gladsome tidings,
Ring out loudly near and far,
Bringing freedom to the captives,
Peace and comfort to the slave,
That the heathen, free from bondage,
May proclaim Thy power to save.See the blindness of the heathen,
Strangers to Thy glorious light,
Straying hopeless till they find Thee,
Wandering aimless in the night.
See their pitiful condition;
Lo, gross darkness covers all,
And no ray of hope refreshes
Nor dispels the dreadful pall.If Thou, merciful Redeemer,
Hadst not saved us from this plight,
In like darkness we would languish
Hopeless, helpless, in sin’s night.
Lovingly Thou, Lord, didst seek us
In the beauty of Thy grace;
Now with joy we freely serve Thee,
We, Thy blessèd, chosen race.Knowing Thee and Thy salvation,
Grateful love dare never cease
To proclaim Thy tender mercies,
Gracious Lord, Thy heavenly peace.
Sound we forth the Gospel tidings
To the earth’s remotest bound
That the sinner has been pardoned
And forgiveness can be found.Play source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:3] Though Now The Nations Sit Beneath
Though now the nations sit beneath
The darkness of o’erspreading death,
God will arise with light divine,
On Zion’s holy towers to shine.That light shall shine on distant lands,
And wandering tribes, in joyful bands,
Shall come, Thy glory, Lord, to see,
And in Thy courts to worship Thee.O light of Zion, now arise!
Let the glad morning bless our eyes;
Ye nations, catch the kindling ray,
And hail the splendors of the day.Play source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:4] Together, Lord, We Come To Thee
Together, Lord, we come to Thee,
And in Thy presence bow the head;
A band of hard-pressed folk are we,
Who find life’s pathway rough to tread.We bring our week of life to Thee,
All soiled, and worn, and marred with sin;
Thine eyes of holy love can see
Each tempted life without, within.We bring our bitterness of heart,
Our hate and want of charity;
We fain would choose the better part,
And learn to love, dear Lord, like Thee.We bring our care for daily bread,
The fear that turns the heart to stone;
We cry to Thee; lift up our head
And show us we are not alone.We bring the faith that over all
Though faint and feeble, flickers still;
Increase it, Lord, that at Thy call
We may our daily task fulfill.Lord, make us pure; enrich our life
With heavenly love for evermore;
Give us Thy strength to face the strife,
And serve Thee better than before.Play source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:11] Eastern Gate, The
I will meet you in the morning,
Just inside the Eastern Gate.
Then be ready, faithful pilgrim,
Lest with you it be too late.Refrain
I will meet you, I will meet you
Just inside the Eastern Gate over there.
I will meet you, I will meet you,
I will meet you in the morning over there.If you hasten off to glory,
Linger near the Eastern Gate,
For I’m coming in the morning;
So you’ll not have long to wait.Refrain
Keep your lamps all trimmed and burning;
For the Bridegroom watch and wait.
He’ll be with us at the meeting
Just inside the Eastern Gate.Refrain
O the joys of that glad meeting
With the saints who for us wait!
What a blessèd, happy meeting
Just inside the Eastern Gate!Refrain
Play source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:13] Beautiful Christmas
O’er the hills and adown the snowy dells,
As the echoes ring of the Christmas bells,
Angel songs in our hearts resound again,
Singing peace on earth and good will to men!Refrain
Bring pine and fir tree, weave the garlands bright,
Gladden the temple of the King tonight!
Christmas is here! Fill it with cheer;
Make it glorious with joy and light.Bring good will to the suffering and sad;
Speak the tender word that shall make them glad;
Tell them how, o’er the hills of Bethlehem
When the angels sang, ’twas good news for them.Refrain
Peace on earth! bid all strife and tumult cease;
For this night again gives the Lord His peace;
While our hands shall His temple beautify,
Carol, glory be unto God most high.Refrain
So glad hearts on this happy Christmas night
Bring your gifts of love, make His altar bright;
Sing glad songs that shall sweetly sound as when
Angels sang of peace and good will to men.Refrain
Play source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:15] O Zion, When Thy Savior Came
O Zion, when thy Savior came
In grace and love to thee,
No beauty in thy royal Lord
Thy faithless eye could see.Yet, onward in His path of grace,
The holy Sufferer went,
To feel, at last, that love on thee
Had all in vain been spent.Yet not in vain; o’er Israel’s land
The glory yet will shine;
And He, thy once rejected King,
Messiah, shall be thine.When thou, beneath the peaceful reign
Of Jesus and His bride,
Shalt sound His grace and glory forth
To all the earth beside.The nations to thy glorious light,
O Zion! yet shall throng;
And all the listening islands wait
To catch the joyful song.The name of Jesus yet shall ring
Through earth and Heaven above,
And all His ransomed people know
The Sabbath of His love.Play source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:18] Gates Of Praise
Lift up the Gates of Praise,
That we may enter in,
And o’er Salvation’s walls proclaim
That Christ redeems from sin.Refrain
The stars may praise the Hand
That decks the sky above,
But man alone can tell the power
Of Christ’s redeeming love.God’s works reveal His might,
His majesty and grace;
But not the tender Father’s love
That saves a dying race.Refrain
Then let the voice of praise
To heav’nly courts ascend,
Till with the songs the angels sing
Our hallelujahs blend.Refrain
To Him that hath redeemed
Our souls from sin’s dark maze;
The Hope and Savior of mankind,
Be everlasting praise.Refrain
Play source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:18] Hear What God The Lord Hath Spoken
Hear what God the Lord hath spoken,
“O my people, faint and few,
Comfortless, afflicted, broken,
Fair abodes I build for you:
Themes of heartfelt tribulation
Shall no more perplex your ways;
You shall name your walls, Salvation,
And your gates shall all be praise.“There, like streams that feed the garden,
Pleasures, without end, shall flow,
For the Lord, your faith rewarding,
All His bounty shall bestow;
Still in undisturbed possession
Peace and righteousness shall reign;
Never shall you feel oppression,
Hear the voice of war again.“Ye no more your suns descending,
Waning moons no more shall see;
But your griefs forever ending,
Find eternal noon in Me:
God shall rise, and shining o’er you,
Change to day the gloom of night;
He, the Lord, shall be your Glory,
God your everlasting Light.”Play source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:19] Eternal Light
Eternal Light! eternal Light!
How pure the soul must be
When, placed within Thy searching sight,
It shrinks not, but with calm delight
Can live, and look on Thee!The spirits that surround Thy throne
May bear the burning bliss;
But that is surely theirs alone,
Since they have never, never known
A fallen world like this.O how shall I, whose native sphere
Is dark, whose mind is dim,
Before the Ineffable appear,
And on my naked spirit bear
That uncreated beam?There is a way for man to rise
To that sublime abode:
An offering and a sacrifice,
A Holy Spirit’s energies,
An Advocate with God.These, these prepare us for the sight
Of holiness above;
The sons of ignorance and night,
May dwell in the eternal Light,
Through the eternal Love.Play source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:19] O Everlasting Light
O Everlasting Light,
Giver of dawn and day,
Dispeller of the ancient night
In which creation lay;O Everlasting Light,
Shine graciously within;
Brightest of all on earth that’s bright,
Come, shine away my sin.O Everlasting Truth,
Truest of all that’s true,
Sure Guide of erring age and youth,
Lead me, and teach me, too.O Everlasting Strength,
Uphold me in the way;
Bring me, in spite of foes, at length
To joy and light and day.O Everlasting Love,
Wellspring of grace and peace,
Pour down Thy fullness from above,
Bid doubt and trouble cease.O Everlasting Rest,
Lift off life’s load of care;
Relieve, revive this burdened breast,
And every sorrow bear.Thou art in Heav’n our All,
Our All on earth art Thou;
Upon Thy glorious Name we call,
Lord Jesus, bless us now.Play source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:22] God Of The Nations, Who Hast Led
God of the nations, who hast led
Thy children since the world began,
Through doubt and struggle, pain and tears,
Unfolding Thy eternal plan;
From countless hilltops as of old
The fire upon the altar flares;
Through countless rites, in countless tongues,
Men offer their imperfect prayers;
Hasten the time of our release,
Bring in Thy reign of truth and peace.O Jesus Christ, incarnate Son,
Who bore our flesh that men might see
The vision of the perfect life
Fashioned in their humanity;
By all Thy words of heavenly truth,
By all Thy deeds of mercy wrought,
By all the passion of Thy cross,
By the redemption Thou hast brought;
Hasten the time of our release,
Bring in Thy reign of truth and peace.O Holy Spirit, who dost touch
The prophets with Thy sacred fire
Eternal wisdom to whose light
All seekers after truth aspire;
Behold the warring sons of men,
The helpless by the strong oppressed,
The truth with error still concealed,
The evil grudgingly confessed;
Hasten the time of our release,
Bring in Thy reign of truth and peace.O God triune, Thy Church today
In penitence before Thee kneels
Mourning her years of slothful ease,
Her deafness to the world’s appeals;
Divided where she should be one,
Enamored of a lesser strife,
Tithing the mint and cumin while
Men perish for the Bread of Life;
Hasten the time of our release,
Bring in Thy reign of truth and peace.Restore to us the vision, Lord,
Descend with fires of Pentecost;
Our tongues unloose, our hearts inflame,
To preach the Gospel to the lost:
Here at Thy feet our prayer is made,
Here life and wealth we dedicate;
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done,
Lord, Thy anointing we await;
Hasten the time of our release,
Bring in Thy reign of truth and peace.Play source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:22] Hasten, Lord, The Glorious Time
Hasten, Lord, the glorious time
When, beneath Messiah’s sway,
Every nation, every clime,
Shall the Gospel call obey.
Mightiest kings His power shall own,
Heathen tribes His Name adore;
Satan and his host o’erthrown,
Bound in chains, shall hurt no more.As when soft and gentle showers
Fall upon the thirsty plain,
Springing grass and blooming flowers,
Clothe the wilderness again;
So Thy Spirit shall descend,
Softening every stony heart,
And its sweetest influence lend,
All that’s lovely to impart.Then shall wars and tumults cease,
Then be banished grief and pain,
Righteousness and joy and peace,
Undisturbed shall ever reign.
Bless we, then, our gracious Lord,
Ever praise His glorious Name;
All His mighty acts record;
All His wondrous love proclaim.Time shall sun and moon obscure,
Seas be dried, and rocks be riv’n.
But His reign shall still endure,
Endless as the days of Heav’n.source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:22] Hasten, Lord, Thy Coming
We are waiting, blessèd Jesus,
Watching, waiting, still for Thee;
Thou hast told us Thou art coming,
We are waiting patiently.Refrain
Hasten Thou, dear Lord, Thy coming,
We hosannas then shall sing,
Shouting “Glory! Hallelujah!
Crown Immanuel, the King!”Lamps all trimmed and brightly burning,
Ready we would always be;
For the cry, “The Bridegroom cometh!”
We are waiting eagerly.Refrain
Occupying, till Thou comest;
Thus Thy Word we would obey;
Then, O Lord, Thou wilt reward us,
On that bright and gladsome day.Refrain
Now in Heaven, Thou dost tarry,
Our high priest within the veil,
While we wait for Thine appearing,
Knowing well Thou wilt not fail.Refrain
Play source: Cyberhymnal - [Isa 60:22] O North With All Thy Vales Of Green
O North, with all thy vales of green,
O South, with all thy palms!
From peopled towns and vales between,
Uplift the voice of psalms;
Raise, ancient East, the anthem high,
And let the youthful West reply.Lo, in the clouds of Heav’n appears
God’s well belovèd Son
He brings a train of brighter years;
His kingdom is begun.
He comes, a guilty world to bless
With mercy, truth, and righteousness.O Father, haste the promised hour,
When at His feet shall lie
All rule, authority, and power,
Beneath the ample sky;
When He shall reign from pole to pole,
The Lord of every human soul.When all shall heed the words He said
Amid their daily cares
And by the loving life He led
Shall seek to pattern theirs;
And He who conquered death shall win
The mightier conquest over sin.Play source: Cyberhymnal
