Proud men will be humiliated, arrogant men will be brought low; 1 the Lord alone will be exalted 2 in that day.
The arrogance of man will be brought low and the pride of men humbled; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day,
The pride of man will be humbled And the loftiness of men will be abased; And the LORD alone will be exalted in that day,
The arrogance of all people will be brought low. Their pride will lie in the dust. The LORD alone will be exalted!
The swelled big heads will be punctured bladders, the pretentious egos brought down to earth, Leaving GOD alone at front-and-center on the Day we're talking about.
And the high looks of man will be put to shame, and the pride of men will be made low: and only the Lord will be lifted up in that day.
The haughtiness of people shall be humbled, and the pride of everyone shall be brought low; and the LORD alone will be exalted on that day.
The loftiness of man shall be bowed down, And the haughtiness of men shall be brought low; The LORD alone will be exalted in that day,
And the loftiness
shall be bowed down
and the haughtiness
shall be made low
and the LORD
alone shall be exalted
in that day

1 tn Heb “and the pride of men will be brought down, and the arrogance of men will be brought low.” As in v. 11, the repetition of the verbs שָׁפַל (shafal) and שָׁחָח (shakhakh) from v. 9 draws attention to the appropriate nature of the judgment. Those proud men who “bow low” before idols will be forced to “bow low” before God when he judges their sin.
2 tn Or “elevated”; NCV “praised”; CEV “honored.”
