The sun will no longer supply light for you by day, nor will the moon’s brightness shine on you; the Lord will be your permanent source of light – the splendor of your God will shine upon you. 1
“It did no good for me to punish your people. They did not respond to such correction. You slaughtered your prophets like a voracious lion.” 1
“The way you have lived and the things you have done 1 will bring this on you. This is the punishment you deserve, and it will be painful indeed. 2 The pain will be so bad it will pierce your heart.” 3
I will tear off your headbands and rescue my people from your power; 1 they will no longer be prey in your hands. Then you will know that I am the Lord.
I will fill its mountains with its dead; on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines, those killed by the sword will fall.
In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good deeds and give honor to your Father in heaven.
They said to him, “Permit one of us to sit at your right hand and the other at your left in your glory.”
Then you must come to the place the Lord your God chooses for his name to reside, bringing 1 everything I am commanding you – your burnt offerings, sacrifices, tithes, the personal offerings you have prepared, 2 and all your choice votive offerings which you devote to him. 3
When I had made an inspection, 1 I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials, and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the great and awesome Lord, 2 and fight on behalf of your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your families!” 3
This is what the sovereign Lord says: Because your lust 1 was poured out and your nakedness was uncovered in your prostitution with your lovers, and because of all your detestable idols, and because of the blood of your children you have given to them,
I will find delight in your commands, which I love.
I keep your commands eagerly and without delay. 1
(3:1) 1 After all of this 2 I will pour out my Spirit 3 on all kinds of people. 4 Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your elderly will have revelatory dreams; 5 your young men will see prophetic visions.
Be merciful, 1 just as your Father is merciful.
The Lord your God will make the labor of your hands 1 abundantly successful and multiply your children, 2 the offspring of your cattle, and the produce of your soil. For the Lord your God will once more 3 rejoice over you to make you prosperous 4 just as he rejoiced over your ancestors,
“Do not hold back offerings from your granaries or your vats. 1 You must give me the firstborn of your sons.
