For seven days you must present a gift to the Lord. On the eighth day there is to be a holy assembly for you, and you must present a gift to the Lord. It is a solemn assembly day; 1  you must not do any regular work.

I will destroy your high places and cut down your incense altars, 1  and I will stack your dead bodies on top of the lifeless bodies of your idols. 2  I will abhor you. 3

I will lay your cities waste 1  and make your sanctuaries desolate, and I will refuse to smell your soothing aromas.

I will scatter you among the nations and unsheathe the sword 1  after you, so your land will become desolate and your cities will become a waste.
