Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me? 1 The words that I say to you, I do not speak on my own initiative, 2 but the Father residing in me performs 3 his miraculous deeds. 4
Then they brought Jesus from Caiaphas to the Roman governor’s residence. 1 (Now it was very early morning.) 2 They 3 did not go into the governor’s residence 4 so they would not be ceremonially defiled, but could eat the Passover meal.
Peter then told her, “Why have you agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look! The feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out!”
Now in those 1 days, when the disciples were growing in number, 2 a complaint arose on the part of the Greek-speaking Jews 3 against the native Hebraic Jews, 4 because their widows 5 were being overlooked 6 in the daily distribution of food. 7
The 1 proposal pleased the entire group, so 2 they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, with 3 Philip, 4 Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a Gentile convert to Judaism 5 from Antioch. 6
and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. 1 So 2 for a whole year Barnabas and Saul 3 met with the church and taught a significant number of people. 4 Now it was in Antioch 5 that the disciples were first called Christians. 6
On the Sabbath day we went outside the city gate to the side of the river, where we thought there would be a place of prayer, and we sat down 1 and began to speak 2 to the women 3 who had assembled there. 4
After the city secretary 1 quieted the crowd, he said, “Men of Ephesus, what person 2 is there who does not know that the city of the Ephesians is the keeper 3 of the temple of the great Artemis 4 and of her image that fell from heaven? 5
By all these things, 1 I have shown you that by working in this way we must help 2 the weak, 3 and remember the words of the Lord Jesus that he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” 4
the commanding officer 1 ordered Paul 2 to be brought back into the barracks. 3 He told them 4 to interrogate Paul 5 by beating him with a lash 6 so that he could find out the reason the crowd 7 was shouting at Paul 8 in this way.
But I confess this to you, that I worship 1 the God of our ancestors 2 according to the Way (which they call a sect), believing everything that is according to the law 3 and that is written in the prophets.
