and tear it open by its wings without dividing it into two parts. 1 Finally, the priest must offer it up in smoke on the altar on the wood which is in the fire – it is a burnt offering, a gift of a soothing aroma to the Lord.
Then he must bring it to the sons of Aaron, the priests, and the priest 1 must scoop out from there a handful of its choice wheat flour and some of its olive oil in addition to all of its frankincense, and the priest must offer its memorial portion 2 up in smoke on the altar – it is 3 a gift of a soothing aroma to the Lord.
Then he must remove all of its fat (just as fat was removed from the peace offering sacrifice) and the priest must offer it up in smoke on the altar for a soothing aroma to the Lord. So the priest will make atonement 1 on his behalf and he will be forgiven. 2
and the priest 1 must take up with his hand some of the choice wheat flour of the grain offering 2 and some of its olive oil, and all of the frankincense that is on the grain offering, and he must offer its memorial portion 3 up in smoke on the altar 4 as a soothing aroma to the Lord. 5
but the entrails and the legs he washed with water, 1 and Moses offered the whole ram up in smoke on the altar – it was a burnt offering for a soothing aroma, a gift to the Lord, just as the Lord had commanded Moses. 2
Along with the loaves of bread, 1 you must also present seven flawless yearling lambs, 2 one young bull, 3 and two rams. 4 They are to be a burnt offering to the Lord along with their grain offering 5 and drink offerings, a gift of a soothing aroma to the Lord. 6
But you must not redeem the firstborn of a cow or a sheep or a goat; they are holy. You must splash 1 their blood on the altar and burn their fat for an offering made by fire for a pleasing aroma to the Lord.
They offer burnt sacrifices to the Lord every morning and every evening, along with fragrant incense. They arrange the Bread of the Presence on a ritually clean table and light the lamps on the gold lampstand every evening. Certainly 1 we are observing the Lord our God’s regulations, but you have rejected him.

Then you will know that I am the Lord – when their dead lie among their idols around their altars, on every high hill and all the mountaintops, under every green tree and every leafy oak, 1 the places where they have offered fragrant incense to all their idols.
I brought them to the land which I swore 1 to give them, but whenever they saw any high hill or leafy tree, they offered their sacrifices there and presented the offerings that provoke me to anger. They offered their soothing aroma there and poured out their drink offerings.
When I bring you out from the nations and gather you from the lands where you are scattered, I will accept you along with your soothing aroma. I will display my holiness among you in the sight of the nations.
You will plant crops, but will not harvest them; you will squeeze oil from the olives, 1 but you will have no oil to rub on your bodies; 2 you will squeeze juice from the grapes, but you will have no wine to drink. 3
Whoever makes anything like it, to use as perfume, 1 will be cut off from his people.”
